Sustainability
At CPI, we recognize the profound impact we have on those within our sphere – from the direct influence on event attendees to our broader footprint on the world we inhabit. Grounded in our three company pillars, our sustainability mission drives our commitment to fostering a more responsible Meetings and Events industry. We firmly believe in prioritizing sustainability and aligning with the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through various initiatives aimed at reducing our environmental footprint and supporting the UN SDGs, we invite you to join us on this sustainable journey. Together, let’s forge a path towards a better world, one event at a time. Explore our initiatives and become an integral part of the change we wish to see.
People
We work with our staff and our clients to create work practices and events that have a positive impact on the lives of those involved and the environment in which they live.
Partnership
We recognise that our role as a PCO is a central cog between venues, suppliers, Associations and other industry partners. We work with our partners to ensure that sustainability is a key consideration in event design and implementation.
Innovation
We understand that the business tourism sector is still finding its feet in terms of sustainability. We recognise the need for innovative thought leadership that can help drive meaningful change.
CPI will ensure that every event that we organise has sustainability on the agenda and we will only work with venues and suppliers who share our vision for events that leave a lasting positive impact on our attendees and the world we live in together.
Sustainability In Action

Reusable Lanyards

Water Refill Stations
By encouraging delegate to bring their own bottles and providing refilling stations throughout the venue, delegates avoid the need for single-use plastic water bottles, which are a significant source of waste at conferences. It also educates delegates about simple actions they can take to reduce their ecological footprint, both at the conference and in their daily lives.

Waste Reduction and Recycling
Recycling and composting help to mitigate environmental pollution and reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with waste decomposition in landfills. Providing recycling and compost bins at conferences promotes sustainable practices and encourages attendees to be mindful of their waste disposal habits.

Sustainable Food
Plant-based meals are a more sustainable and have a lower carbon footprint compared to meals that include animal products. By offering plant-based meal options, conferences can reduce their overall carbon footprint and contribute to mitigating climate change.

Biodegradable Lunch Boxes
Biodegradable lunch boxes made from materials such as compostable plastics, bagasse (sugarcane fiber), or plant-based materials offer an eco-friendly alternative to traditional plastic containers. By using biodegradable lunch boxes, conferences can minimize their contribution to plastic pollution and reduce the environmental impact of disposable food packaging.

Digital Posters
Digital posters eliminate the need for paper, ink, and other materials used in traditional printing, reducing the environmental impact associated with producing and disposing of printed materials. By using digital displays instead of printed posters, conferences can significantly decrease their paper consumption, carbon footprint, and waste generation.

Paperless Conference
At CPI we encourage a no print policy at all our conferences. We achieve this by providing a conference app over a printed programmes as well as the use of digital signage instead of printed signage.

Ethical Sourcing
We source conference materials, giveaways, and promotional items from sustainable and socially responsible suppliers. We prioritise fair trade products and support local communities.

CPI Engage (SDG 4 Quality Education)
CPI was established with the goal of helping foster the exchange of ideas within academic communities. Over the past 25 years, that focus on facilitating knowledge sharing has become a central focus for both Nicky and the wider team.
Nicky, is an industry leader in education, leading IAPCO’s European Education delivery as well as encouraging mentorship within the industry. As part of CPI’s 25th anniversary year, we have led a knowledge sharing programme in Mexico that helps develop the events industry in a country without an established Convention Bureau system. CPI has education in its DNA and will continue to support educational events and continued professional development as long as we are in operation.

IAPCO Plastics Pledge
CPI are proud to be one of the first pledgers for IAPCO’s Plastics Pledge as part of the SDG Goal 14. We now work to remove single use plastics from our events wherever possible and we work closely with our suppliers to ensure that they do to.
